Andrea Elles
Painting
Andrea Elles studied photography at Napier College 1972 and finally got involved in painting on a professional basis in the 1990s when she joined the Rosvik group of artists with whom she has now painted and exhibited for many years.
'My work is divided between abstract and figurative. The decision is not always intentional but driven by the paint itself. The work can take on a life of its own and can dictate what the next move should be. I try to control the transparency, translucency and opacity at the same time as addressing the rectangle. I want to keep everything immediate while also showing a sense of depth, rhythm and paint history’.
Andrea has previously exhibited with Rosvik Gallery, David Sinfield Gallery, Anthony Woodd, and the RSA.
