Siobhan O' Hehir
Painting
Born in 1966, Siobhan grew up in the west of Ireland.
Following on from a foundation in Art and Design at the RTC in Galway in the the mid eighties, Siobhan went on to gain a BA Hons in Fine Art from the University of Ulster at Belfast. She then achieved an MA in Fine Art from Newcastle in 1992.
From that date onwards, Siobhan has dedicated her working life to being an artist and a part-time lecturer in Art and Design at Borders College in Galashiels, Scottish Borders.
Siobhan describes herself, simply, as being : … a painter living in the Scottish Borders…., [getting her inspiration] from the surrounding landscapes and environments of the Scottish Borders and Northumberland.
Her love of rock climbing and, in general, the Great Outdoors has also inspired a totally unique vision of land and skyscape around her. Her beautiful semi-abstracted depictions of landscape are daring juxtapositions of luscious bright or quieter colours and textures depicting the various moods of the environment and the marks left by man’s relationship with the land.
Siobhan has exhibited widely in group and solo shows throughout the UK and Ireland.
Siobhan paints and lives in the small village of Ancrum in the Scottish Borders.
